Endometriosis Aotearoa
Capstone Project
One in ten women in New Zealand suffers from endometriosis, a largely misunderstood condition that can scar and damage internal organs, leading to extreme pain and, in many cases, irreversible harm. Despite its severity, endometriosis remains significantly underfunded and under-researched, with an average diagnosis time of 7 to 10 years. This disorder not only impacts a woman's physical health but also takes a toll on her mental well-being.
This project aimed to create accessible resources for women affected by endometriosis, helping to make the journey to understanding and managing the condition less overwhelming.
Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, affecting areas like the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and other organs. The condition presents with various symptoms that often require women to make substantial adjustments to their bodies and lives.
